Kibwezi Honey Marketing Cooperative Society Limited (KHMC) is a women-led cooperative based in Kibwezi, Makueni County, Kenya. Founded in 1989 as a Self-Help Group (SHG), KHMC was formed to empower local women by collectively marketing honey and bee products. What began as a grassroots initiative of 1,431 women has grown into a legally registered cooperative known today as Kibwezi Pride.
We are committed to producing high-quality, organic honey while fostering community development, environmental sustainability, and economic empowerment.
Our History
KHMC’s journey began in 1989 with a bold vision: to transform beekeeping into a sustainable source of income for women in Kibwezi.
In 2007, the group received support from UNIDO to improve its processing facility and equipment. With growing momentum and government support, the SHG officially registered as a cooperative in 2016 under the Cooperative Societies Act. Today, KHMC continues to serve its 56 active members across Kibwezi East and West — helping them grow, thrive, and lead through bee farming.
